Ennis

Ennis (Irish: Inis, "island") is a town in County Clare. It is the administrative centre of the county and the 10th largest town urban centre in the Country.

Get in

Shannon Airport is about 20 minutes down the road by car, with rentals available at the airport. It is well served by flights from the US, UK and Europe. Major carriers are Aer Lingus and discount carrier RyanAir

From Shannon Airport, Ennis is easily reached by either bus or taxi.

A taxi from the airport to Ennis town will cost around €25-30. The national bus company, Bus Éireann, has regular services from the airport to Ennis town.

Get around

The town itself is compact and the visitor could walk around it in a day. Taxis are plentiful and can be either hailed on the street or booked in advance, either by telephone or from one of the local companies offices.

  • Bunratty Castle (south east of Ennis). A great historical place with a small old medieval type village around it.
  • Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands Cruises. About 35 minutes from Ennis to Doolin. They have a daily direct passenger ferry from Doolin Pier, Co. Clare to the Aran Islands and they also do sightseeing tours to view the Cliffs of Moher from sea level. A brilliant way to view the Awesome nature of the Cliffs of Moher.
  • The Doolin Ferry Company. About 35 minutes from Ennis to Doolin. They have a daily direct passenger ferry from Doolin Pier, Co. Clare to the Aran Islands and they also do sightseeing tours to view the Cliffs of Moher from sea level. A brilliant way to view the Awesome nature of the Cliffs of Moher.
  • O'Brien Line Ferries. About 35 minutes from Ennis to Doolin. They have a daily direct passenger ferry from Doolin Pier, Co. It comes as no surpise that Ennis has much to offer in the way of restaurants. Set in this busy town are restaurants such as The Diner, Rouges, Tulsi, Seasons 52 and The Loft Restaurant. There are a number of Chinese, Indian and Italian restaurants in the town.

gollark: Measuring it in terms of frequency makes no sense, though. Modern CPUs change their frequency all the time in response to demand, for one thing.
