Aggtelek together with Jósvafő are famous for their huge and beautiful karst cave system. Aggtelek's karst caves (together with caves in nearby Slovak Karst National Park) have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Do

Many caves are available:

  • 🌍 Baradla. Most popular of the Aggtelek tours, approx. 1 hr/1 km. This cave is part of the Baradla-Domnica system, measuring 25 km in total, 5 km of which is in Slovakia. 1500-2200ft.
  • 🌍 Béke. 5-hour tour, good shoes needed, and helmets are used - only part of the cave is paved.
  • 🌍 Vass Imre. 6.5-km/3-hour tour, 6 km of which is spent between ticket office and the cave. Temporarily closed.
  • 🌍 Rákoci Cave. 400-m/40-min tour, claimed to be probably the most spectacular cave in the region. Ft 1800-3000.
