Coaching career

In 2010 he was named the manager of the local football club in Zagreb Maksimir, who he coached to 2013. One year later, he went to Moldova, where he coached FC Sheriff-2 Tiraspol in 2014, after which he became the Sheriff Tiraspol manager. He won the double with Sheriff in the 2014–15 season, winning the 2014–15 Divizia Naţională and the 2014–15 Moldovan Cup.

On 1 September 2015 he was named as the Osijek manager in the Croatian First Football League, and signed three-year contract, to June 2018. In 2016–17 season, Osijek finished on the 4th position and promoted to the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. Osijek played against Santa Coloma and PSV Eindhoven. Osijek won hard opponent PSV with 2–0 (0–1, 1–0), and promoted to play-off round. On 29 March 2019 after a poor performance in the club, he parted ways with Osijek.

On 30 April 2019, Zekić came back to Sheriff and became the club's new manager.[2]

gollark: That is the best way I can think of to do that, sure.
