Notable personalities

Papa Zhuli

Papa Zhuli, a Catholic priest, is considered the founder of Zhulat, as well as the founder of a version of Kanun, known as "Kanuni i Papa Zhulit" (English: The Kanun of Papa Zhuli) which would be spread later in all Laberia region under the name "Kanuni i Labërisë" (English: The Kanun of Labëria).[3][4][5]

Petro Zhulati

A powerful Albanian landlord to have lived in Zhulat. He is believed to have lived in the early eleventh century. He died in battle while fighting against the Eastern Roman Empire for unknown reasons. An old folkloric polyphonic song mentions him fighting against Byzantine forces. A fierce battle must have taken place since local Lab Albanians still retain memories of that clash through a song which is 950 years old. [6]
