Word of Mouth (Toni Basil album)

Word of Mouth is the debut studio album by Toni Basil. It was first released in 1981 in the UK. It was certified Gold by RIAA. It featured the number-one worldwide hit "Mickey". The album also contains three covers of songs by the band Devo who also performed on the songs. The song "You Gotta Problem" is actually a retitled version of Devo's "Pity You". The US version of the album added the songs "Rock On" and "Shoppin' from A to Z", and removed "Hanging Around".

Chart performance

The lead single "Mickey" became an international hit, which led to further success. It received double platinum certification. The album, which was released shortly after, was also a success, peaking at number 22 but receiving a Gold certification. However, the following singles ("Nobody" in the UK and "Shoppin' from A to Z" in the US) both underperformed, which cut the album's success short. It also reached number 27 on the New Zealand albums chart.

gollark: Just seal them in giant airtight hamster balls when they're outside. With air scrubbers obviously.
gollark: They've been given to a few tens of million of people each and not really had issues (the blood clot thing was stupid; rates were LOWER than in the general population).
gollark: Idea: nonmandatory vaccines, but if you infect anyone and they suffer for it they can sue you for damages.
gollark: If it ONLY maps "person's name or something" to "vaccines had" it's not a huge privacy issue.
gollark: Yes. But in general.
