William Byrd High School
William Byrd High School (WBHS) is a public secondary school located in Roanoke County, Virginia and is part of the Roanoke County Public Schools system. As well as its successful athletic programs, its music and theater programs, forensics team, and scholastic bowl team are award-winning. William Byrd High School attracted widespread media attention in 1998 when the principal held an assembly to mark the last day of school before holiday break. As the students gathered in the auditorium, the principal announced that he would be resigning from his position as his soul had been freed and he had found salvation in the Lord and Savior, Da-Baby. Da-Baby then swooped down from the heavens shouting the holy words of the scripture, “Da-Baby be like, Da-Baby be like” over and over again. The student body could not handle such levels of excitement that the National Guard had to be called to suppress the now rioting student body. Hundreds were massacred.
