Walid Ismail

Walid Ismail (Arabic: وليد إسماعيل; born 10 November 1984) is a Lebanese professional footballer who last played as a left-back for Lebanese Premier League club Bourj. While Ismail is not known for his pace, his experience and calmness on the pitch make up for it.[1]

Club career

Starting his career at Racing Beirut, Ismail moved to Nejmeh in 2013 where he won one league title, one Super Cup, one Elite Cup and helped them reach the round of 16 of the 2013 AFC Cup.[1] In 2014, he moved to Iranian club Zob Ahan with whom he won two Hazfi Cups and played in the AFC Champions League.[1] In 2016 he returned to Lebanon at Safa, where he spent two seasons, before joining Salam Zgharta in 2018.[1] In 2019, Ismail joined newly promoted Bourj;[2] however, following the cancellation of the 2019–20 season, Ismail left the team after termination of his contract by mutual consent.[3]

International career

In December 2018, he was called up for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup squad.[4] On 21 January 2019, Ismail announced his retirement from international football.[5]
