History
The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1432 when it was likely a stave church. In 1673-1674 the old church was torn down and a new timber-framed, cruciform church was constructed on the same site. It was a 15.6-metre (51 ft) long building. That church was torn down in the spring of 1895 and replaced in 1896 with the present church. The new church is a rectangular building with an almost-circular extension on the eastern end and a large steeple on the western end.[3][4]
