History
Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Ahmedabad was established in August 1994, with an objective of imparting higher education in various fields of engineering and technology. This institute is recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The college is administrated by Commissionerate of Technical Education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University.[1] The college is named after Vishvakarman (Sanskrit for "all-accomplishing, maker of all, all-doer"), a personification of creation and the abstract form of the creator God and the presiding deity of all Vishwakarma (caste), engineers, artisans and architects.[2] He is believed to be the "Principal Architect of the Universe ", and the root concept of the later Upanishadic figures of Brahman and Purusha.

TechnoAspire

TechnoAspire is the annual Tech-Non Tech-Cult-Sports' fest of VGEC. This annual technical event gives a rostrum to aspirants from all over Gujarat to project their proficiency and intellect, with an aim to abridge the gap between theoretical concepts learned and the fascinating practical implementation that would follow.[5]
Information
- The IITGN was being operated in VGEC Campus from years 2008 to 2015. Now ,it is transferred to Palaj in Gandhinagar.[6]
- The institute is All India Council for Technical Education approved.[7]
- The new building of Gujarat Technological University is located near VGEC campus.[8]
