History

Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Ahmedabad was established in August 1994, with an objective of imparting higher education in various fields of engineering and technology. This institute is recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The college is administrated by Commissionerate of Technical Education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University.[1] The college is named after Vishvakarman (Sanskrit for "all-accomplishing, maker of all, all-doer"), a personification of creation and the abstract form of the creator God and the presiding deity of all Vishwakarma (caste), engineers, artisans and architects.[2] He is believed to be the "Principal Architect of the Universe ", and the root concept of the later Upanishadic figures of Brahman and Purusha.
