Villanova School of Business

The Villanova School of Business is Villanova University's business school and offers seven undergraduate degrees, six graduate programs, an executive MBA program, and several executive education programs. The programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Located in Villanova, Pennsylvania (part of Radnor Township), Villanova School of Business has been ranked among the top business schools in the nation for the last ten years.[3]

History

The Villanova School of Business (VSB) was founded in 1922 by Father Joseph C. Bartley, a former dean. Originally known as "The College of Commerce And Finance" it was renamed "The Villanova School Of Business" in 2006. Villanova was founded by the Roman Catholic Order of Saint Augustine.

Bartley Hall, home of VSB, houses the Victoria and Justin Gmelich Lab for Financial Markets, a state-of-the-art facility where students can study and research in an environment that’s similar to a Wall Street trading floor. It offers 28 workstations and seating capacity for 56, plus with a second lab space with 13 more workstations for research and group work. Bartley Hall is also home to the Lab for the Advancement of Interdisciplinary Research (LAIR), which promotes faculty/student collaboration on research and innovation and offers the latest in eye-tracking hardware and software used in retail marketing research.

In addition to serving as a home base for faculty and administration offices, Bartley Hall includes 33 classrooms, 6 lecture halls, a 130-seat auditorium, and the Curley Exchange, a dining, studying, and meeting facility.

The school has over 100 full-time faculty members, 90% of which hold the highest degrees in their respective fields, and six "Centers or Institutions of Excellence".

Academics

Undergraduate

As of Spring 2019, 1,739 students are enrolled full-time in the VSB undergraduate business program, with a graduate enrollment of 1,066.[4]

VSB Students take 50% of required courses in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in order to maintain a balance of business and liberal arts to provide students with the fundamentals of critical insight, independent thinking, and moral responsibility of working for the betterment of society.

VSB offers academic business degrees including:

These areas of study are also available as minors, in addition to Business Law & Corporate Governance and Entrepreneurship.[5] Additionally students can pursue concentrations in Applied Quantitative Finance, Management Consulting, Digital Marketing, and Business Development.

Graduate

MBA: The VSB MBA offers an Online, Flex Track, or Fast Track option for students to complete the program at their own pace. This program allows students to utilize their skills almost immediately while taking on two consulting projects with a local nonprofit or social enterprise organization and a multinational firm.

Executive MBA: A residential, weekend-based program allows student to be involved and begin building business connections. A 19-month programs provides students with the skills to lead and navigate a complex business environment.

Master of Accounting with Data Analytics (MACDA): A one-year, full-time program combines accounting with data analytics in order to prepare students to become multi-dimensional accountants. This 30-credit course provides students with the necessary hours to earn a CPA License.

Master of Science in Finance (MSF): A one-year, full-time program providing students with hands-on interaction as well as classroom study. Students have the opportunity to learn in an environment that replicates a Wall Street trading floor with the Gmelich Lab for Financial Markets.

Master of Science in Analytics (MSA): Students become adept to the latest analytic technologies and practices in an online classroom. The program provides industry projects and a final capstone experience through the support of the Center for Business Analytics.

Master of Science in Church Management (MSCM): An online two-year, part-time graduate program provides the student with a skill set in church management. The program meets the needs of a national student body church leader and manager. The MSCM program is built upon a solid business curriculum and a faith-based approach to church management

Master of Taxation: An evening program conducted by the School of Law and Villanova School of Business. Designed for legal, accounting, and business professionals. Classes are also available in an online format.

The Clay Center and O'Donnell Center for Professional Development

The Clay Center at VSB along with the Charlotte and James V. O’Donnell ’63 Center for Professional Development provides undergraduate students with services to support academic, personal, and professional growth. The Clay Center serves as a “one-stop shop” offering academic advising and planning, support for internships and CoOps, and professional development opportunities.

Undergraduate Admissions

For the class of 2022, the number of applications received for admissions was over 6,600, with the matriculation of the incoming class being 413. The SAT mid-range scores for typically accepted students was 1350-1480 and the mid-range GPA was 4.06-4.42. For the class of 2021, the number of applications increased by 37.5% and the SAT mid-range scores for accepted students was 1340-1480 and the mid-range GPA was 3.92-4.29.[6]
