The bank was established on 15 October 2002 as a result of the merger of the two advanced private commercial banks of Azerbaijan MBank and PROMTEKHBANK. On October 15, 2002, after the merger of MBank with PROMTEXBANK, one of the leading banks of Azerbaijan, the bank's name was changed to Unibank.

Unibank Mobile

According to the results of 2016 report by ‘Deloitte & Touche LLC’, Unibank Mobile is one of the best mobile applications in CIS due to the wide functionality range. The selection of banks for this report based on the express-analysis of mobile applications conducted by employees of Deloitte's local offices. It revealed that “Unibank Mobile” is the most advanced mobile application in Azerbaijan.

In 2018 Unibank CB was awarded by Azerbaijan Banks Association as “The most active supporter to education” and “Implementer of innovative ways of payment”.
