Trailer tail

A trailer tail, boat tail, or rear fairing is an aerodynamic device intended to improve the fuel economy of semi-trailer trucks. It comprises a set of panels, usually collapsible, which fold out from the rear of the trailer, creating a tapered shape that reduces drag from the low-pressure wake created behind the trailer. Trailer tails are one form of aerodynamic technology verified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay Transport Partnership.[1] Trailer tails alone have demonstrated a fuel savings of 1%–5%, and in concert with trailer skirts, 9% improvement has been demonstrated.[2]

SuperTruck project

At least one model of trailer tail, trade named TrailerTail, is part of Navistar's SuperTruck project,[5] which will use $37 million of US Department of Energy grants to build next generation trucks and tractor trailers.

gollark: I used to get those, but realized I didn't particularly care and turned them off.
gollark: Well, one time it decided to start sending me emails about mentions in servers because my phone was not connected to Discord or something, and as (technically) a bot developer they bother me about that.
gollark: I check my spam box sometimes and there generally isn't even any actual spam in there, just emails from services which I don't particularly care about (like Discord's random bothering about things).
gollark: I've never actually ended up with spam problems, so maybe I would feel different if I *had*?

There's the obvious issue of mailing lists which you *want* to receive, but more significantly this would make me... not use email at all... since I don't have any work-y reasons to use it and can reach my friends by various other channels.
