Toomey Field

Toomey Field is a track and field stadium in unincorporated Yolo County, adjacent to Davis, California, United States. The Woody Wilson Track is located in the stadium and it is home to the UC Davis track and field team.[1]

History

It opened in 1949 and was home to the University of California, Davis Aggies football team through the 2006 season. The first game, on November 18, 1949, was a 123 victory over Chico State. The record for attendance at the stadium was set on November 12, 1977 with 12,800 for a 3721 victory over Nevada. The Aggies all-time record on Toomey Field was 192867 (.686).

Originally named Aggie Field, the stadium was renamed to "Toomey Field" in 1962 in honor of Crip Toomey, who served as athletic director at UC Davis from 1928 until his death in 1961. Toomey graduated from UC Davis in 1923 and also served as the Aggies' basketball coach and football coach from 1928 to 1936.[2]

The stadium was replaced by Aggie Stadium as the Aggies' home football stadium in 2007. It is now home to only the UC Davis track and field team.

gollark: I can add a setting to not allow anti-uninstallation, if you like.
