Tim Burke (visual effects supervisor)

Tim Burke is a visual effects supervisor. He has worked on several films and TV shows, such as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 and Doctor Who.

Early life and career

He was born in 1965 in Newcastle-on-Tyne, Tyneside, England. Years after that he studied graphic design and did commercials, but then in 1996 started doing film effects with Ridley Scott's new company.[1] In 2013, Burke’s Bigger Picture Films will develop his Planet X trilogy, Famous Player's Club,[2] modern day drama The Second Coming, The Hangover style comedy Vegas Baby and social media teen horror Hashtag.[3]

Recognition

On January 24, 2012, he was nominated for an Academy Award for the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.[4] He had previously been on the team that won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for Gladiator.[5]

gollark: Although I'd still expect a lot of listening to be done with screen off etc. And smart software would stop the video stream then.

gollark: It sounds like your CPU was just not boosting somehow. Probably a heating or configuration issue.
gollark: Is it? I mean, most people *don't* stream things with video, so you're only transferring a few hundred kbps at most, which is basically nothing.
