"Tightrope" is a song by American rock band Walk the Moon. It was written by the members of the band and Chris Robinson. The song appeared on the band's first major-label debut album, Walk the Moon, and was later included on its own self-titled EP as the lead track.

Background and release

"Tightrope" first appeared on the Anna Sun EP as the first track, released on February 7, 2012.[2][3] It was included on the band's 2012 self-titled album and was later sent to US alternative radio stations on September 11, 2012, through RCA Records as the second single.[4][5] An EP of the same name was released to digital retailers on January 18, 2013.[6] The song was written by Chris Robinson, Eli Maiman, Kevin Ray, Nicholas Petricca and Sean Waugaman.[7]

Reception

Joe Robinson of Diffuser.fm praised the song's production with its "infectious melodies, swirling guitars and party-starting dance beats all swirled together through an electronic pulse".[8]

Chart performance

"Tightrope" peaked at number 15 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart,[9] giving Walk the Moon their second top twenty hit on that chart after "Anna Sun". Outside the Alternative Songs chart, it reached number 21 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart,[10] number 27 on the Hot Rock Songs chart,[11] and number 33 on the Rock Airplay chart.[12] The song also appeared on the Mexico Ingles Airplay chart for one week at number 81.[13]
