Reception

The documentary has been well received. Among the review aggregators, Rotten Tomatoes gave it 100% based on 24 reviews[2] and Metacritic gave it 77/100 based on 8 reviews.[3] Owen Gleiberman says "Mostly, the movie makes you understand how every society - and ours more than ever - needs people like Bassem Youssef to demonstrate that laughter will always be one of the essential ways to keep power in check."[4]

gollark: Wait. He said "bring down servers" so no...
gollark: Or just "he decided there's a balance issue and refuses to explain that".
gollark: If there's a reason, and it's not security, and he refuses to explain it, that is stupid™.
