"The Diamond Drill" is a science fiction novelette by English-American writer Charles Sheffield. It was first published in Analog Science Fiction and Fact in April 2002,[1] and subsequently republished in Year's Best SF 8 in June 2003.[2]

Plot summary

A man cheating a scientific test who determine whether something coming through customs is in fact a diamond.

gollark: I mean, if it's cheaper than a regular watch and can overcome its inaccuracy with time syncing...
