Thawar Chand Gehlot

Thaawar Chand Gehlot (born 18 May 1948) is an Indian politician who currently serves as the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in the NDA Government. He is currently the leader of the upper house of Indian Parliament. He is a member of the Parliamentary Board and the Central Election Committee of the BJP.[1]

Early life

He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vikram University, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.[2]

Career

He is member of the Rajya Sabha, upper house of Indian Parliament, representing the state of Madhya Pradesh. He was awarded an honorary doctorate Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Social University.[3] He formerly represented Shajapur in the lower house of Indian Parliament, Lok Sabha from 1996 to 2009.[4] He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and general secretary of the party.[5]
