Tej Pratap Yadav

Tej Pratap Yadav (born 16 April 1988) is an Indian politician. He was a cabinet minister for Health in Government of Bihar. He was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Mahua constituency as a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal in 2015. He is the eldest son of former Bihar chief ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi.[1][2][3][4]

Early and personal life

Tej Pratap Yadav was born on 16 April 1988 in Patna. He is the eldest son among the seven daughters and two sons of two former Chief Ministers of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi. Tej completed his education till ninth standard.[5][6][7]

He was married to Aishwarya Roy, grand daughter of Bihar's ex-Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai.[8][9]

Political career

He became a Cabinet Minister of Health in Nitish Kumar's government from November 2015 till July 2017.[10]

In December 2015, as the Environment Minister of Bihar, he promoted horse-riding as an initiative to curb pollution in the state.[11]

Acting career

He played the role of Chief Minister of Bihar in the Bhojpuri movie Apaharan Udhhyog. His debut Hindi movie, Hizda: ek Kinnar ki atma katha is yet to be released.

Controversy

In 2017, Tej Pratap Yadav threatened to skin Prime Minister Narendra Modi alive for after Lalu Prasad's security was downgraded from Z+ to Z.[12] Lalu defended his son over this.[13] On the last day of voting in the 2019 general elections, a video of an alleged assault on a video journalist by his bodyguards went viral, while Yadav lodged an FIR calling it a conspiracy to kill him.[14][15][16][17] During lockdown due to coronavirus he has organized a Mahayagya at his residence for his wisdom.[18]. He is accused by his wife of beating her and using drugs. He also like to cross-dress.[19]
