Te Hapara

Te Hapara is a suburb of the New Zealand city of Gisborne. It is located in the northwest of the city. It contains one primary school, Te Hapara School, which is located in Mill Road.[1]

The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "the dawn" for Te Hāpara.[2]

Demographics

Te Hapara had a population of 4,383 at the 2013 New Zealand census, an increase of 99 people since the 2006 census. There were 2,067 males and 2,316 females.[3] 64.1% were European/Pākehā, 45.6% were Māori, 4.5% were Pacific peoples and 4.0% were Asian.[4]

Education

Gisborne Girls' High School is a Year 9-15 single-sex girls' state high school.[5][6] In 2019, it was a decile 3 school with a roll of 791.[7]

Campion College is a Year 7–15 co-educational state integrated high school.[8][9] In 2019, it was a decile 6 school with a roll of 517.[10]

Te Hapara School is a Year 1-6 co-educational state primary school.[11] In 2019, it was a decile 3 school with a roll of 310.[12]

St Mary's Catholic School is a Year 1-6 co-educational state integrated primary school.[13][14] In 2019, it was a decile 5 school with a roll of 214.[15]
