Tanquián de Escobedo is one of the 58 municipality of San Luis Potosí, in México. This municipality is located in the southeastern part of the state, in the Huasteca, this place head has the following coordinates: 98º40" west longitude and 21º36" north latitude, with a height of 50 meters above sea level. Its boundaries are: north, San Vicente Tancuayalab; east, State of Veracruz; south, San Martin Chalchicuautla; west, Tampamolón Crown. Its approximate to the state capital is 349 kilometers away.[2]

This name of this municipality comes for huasteco language and means "Place of Palmas", the current population is built on the ruins of the ancient people that there existed in ancient times.
