Leading a new wave of Latin music for over a decade, Tainy, has been the mastermind and key component behind some of the most iconic reggaeton hits. A repeated Grammy and BMI Award winner, Tainy has been churning out career-defining hits for countless artists, including the genre's pioneers like Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel, Don Omar and others and more recently, global hit "I Like It" by Cardi B featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin and "No Es Justo" by J Balvin featuring Zion & Lennox. Later on, Tainy teamed up with Venezuelan duo Mau y Ricky alongside Manuel Turizo and Camilo in "Desconocidos" that went on to become Diamond and Platinum certified in Mexico and has reached over 450 million streams worldwide.
2019 continues to be a year of constant success for Tainy. Beginning with his collaboration with Benny Blanco, Selena Gomez and J Balvin for "I Can't Get Enough," which was his debut as an artist. The song quickly took a peak in the Billboard charts in its first days after its launch.
Tainy produced Oasis with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, which has dominated global charts and was key to Tainy's positioning as the number one Latin producer on the Billboard charts for 27 consecutive weeks. Tainy also collaborated with Bad Bunny on the summer anthem "Callaíta" whose success rose to high levels. Almost immediately after, he released his global hit "Adicto" alongside Anuel AA and Ozuna which went on to receive multiple Platinum and Gold certification in eight countries and accrued over 450 million streams and 550 million views. As well, Tainy produced the global hit "China" by Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, and Karol G featuring Ozuna and J Balvin that peaked at number one in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Spain and reached the top 10 in nine other countries.
The young artist and producer continues to dominate the Anglo market with songs like "Lento", Lauren Jauregui's debut Latin single, "Feel It Too" featuring Jessie Reyez and Tory Lanez and on the production side Justin Bieber's "Habitual". His latest release is his debut EP titled Neon16 Tape: The Kids That Grew up on Reggaeton which consists of tracks with several other artists. One of the tracks is "Nada" featuring Lauren Jauregui and C. Tangana released on February 21, 2020.[1]
Life and career
Career beginnings
He has a puerto rican father and a Dominican mother. After meeting with Nely "El Arma Secreta", he gave Luny Tunes his demo. Luny liked what he heard and signed Tainy to his team.[2] When Tainy was 15, Nely loaned him FL Studio XXL for producing. Tainy practiced with it for a whole year until he mastered it. The first assignment Tainy received from Luny, was to see if he really had what it took. Luny liked the first song he worked on so much that he ended up using it for Mas Flow 2.[3]
Tainy co-produced (with Luny Tunes) the Los Benjamins album,[4] producing 15 of the tracks. He has worked as a producer with Wisin & Yandel, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton, Wise & many more.[5][6]
NEON16
In 2019 Tainy and music executive Lex Borrero teamed up to launch a new company called NEON16. Described as a "multifaceted talent incubator," NEON16’s label side has partnered with Interscope; and currently have on their roster Puerto Rican artist Alvaro Diaz and Colombian artist Dylan Fuentes.
“To create NEON16 is a dream come true,” Tainy said. “I know Lex feels the same way. It gives our team a chance to continue to build and also shift the current state of our music.”
Borrero said, “Our motto is 'Fear nothing, impact everything.' We want to work with talent who are willing to take creative risks in order to make a lasting impact. Tainy is the definition of our motto, he has been pushing the sounds of Latin music since the beginning of his legendary career.”
