History
Joko Vogel ha d the idea of a stage race like the Cape Epic in Switzerland. He and Dany Gehring and Thomas Frischknecht founded. Frischknecht started the first two editions with his son Andri Frischknecht.
In 2014 two month after the first edition the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) granted the hors categorie.[1]
In 2018 the parliament of the Canton of Grisons signed a four-year contract with the Swiss Epic that they spend 300.000 CHF each year.[2] Therefore, the race was relocated from the Canton of Valais to the Canton of Grisons. They will become a good pendant to the Cape Epic.[3]
