History

Founded in 1999 and directed by Jürg Dähler (violinist/violist, Executive Master of Arts Administration University Zurich), Daniel Haefliger (cellist) and Felix Renggli (flutist), the Swiss Chamber Concerts are the first national concert cycle for chamber music in Switzerland. The concert series take place in the cities of Basel, Geneva, Lugano and Zurich. The thematic programs are based on the mirror of old and new chamber music. The Swiss Chamber Concerts commission every year new works by Swiss and foreign composers. Till the present day, the concert cycle has produced over 150 world, European and Swiss creations and first performances including works by Jean-Sélim Abdelmoula, Kalevi Ensio Aho, Valery Arzoumanov, George Benjamin, Harrison Birtwistle, William Blank, Nicolas Bolens, Ursina Maria Braun, Elliott Carter, Friedrich Cerha, Xavier Dayer, Thomas Demenga, Fjodor Druzhinin, Richard Dubugnon, Pascal Dusapin, Alfred Felder, Brian Ferneyhough, Gustav Friedrichson, Daniel Fueter, Beat Furrer, Franz Furrer-Münch, Eric Gaudibert, Stefano Gervasoni, Daniel Glaus, Rico Gubler, Edu Haubensak, David Philip Hefti, Heinz Holliger, Toshio Hosokawa, Martin Jaggi, Christian Jost,  Mischa Käser, Rudolf Kelterborn, Thomas Kessler, Charles Koechlin, György Kurtág, Thomas Larcher, Hans Ulrich Lehmann, György Ligeti, Ursula Mamlok, Albert Moeschinger, Roland Moser, Younghi Pagh-Paan, Robert HP Platz, Philippe Racine, Katharina Rosenberger, Michel Roth, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Aulis Sallinen, Andrea Lorenzo Scartazzini, Rodolphe Schacher, Martin Schlumpf, Daniel Schnyder, Valentin Silvestrov, Bettina Skrzypczak, Alessandro Solbiati, Robert Sutter, Fabio Tognetti, Fabio Vacchi, Nadir Vassena, Jürg Wyttenbach, Isang Yun, Hans Zehnder and Alfred Zimmerlin. Activities

Basel

The Swiss Chamber Concerts Basel follow the footsteps of the Kammerkunst Basel, founded in 1953 and directed since 1998 by Felix Renggli. The concerts take place in the Grosser Saal der Musik-Akademie Basel, in the Gare du Nord and in various churches of the city.

Geneva

The Swiss Chamber Concerts Geneva started in 1999. They are directed by Daniel Haefliger. The concerts take place in the Grande Salle du Conservatoire de Genève, in the Studio Ansermet and in various other venues of the city. Geneva holds the yearly Swiss Chamber Academy, founded by Daniel Haefliger in 2014, and organises concerts with the Swiss Chamber Camerata. Hildegard Stauder is the founding president of the Geneva SCC Circle of Friends, which was established in 2010.

Lugano

The Swiss Chamber Concerts Lugano, holding all concerts in the Aula Magna of the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, follow the footsteps of the concerts previously organised in the Teatro Sociale Bellinzona. Since 2012 they are managed by Daniel Haefliger.

Zurich

The Swiss Chamber Concerts Zurich follow the footsteps of the concert cycle by „Die Kammermusiker Zürich“ founded by Brenton Langbein in 1960 and directed by Jürg Dähler since 1992. The concerts take place in the Kleiner Tonhallesaal, the St. Peter Kirche Zürich and in various other venues and guild houses of the city. Coproductions have been held with the Pfingstfestival Schloss Brunegg since 2015. „Inside the Insight“ is the private concert series of the Zurich SCC Circle of Friends, an association directed by Ulrike Kolb since 2015 and established in 2006 by Barbara Altwegg.

Swiss Chamber Soloists

The Swiss Chamber Soloists is the chamber ensemble of the Swiss Chamber Concerts, founded in 1999 and led by the three artistic directors.
