Premise

Nothing extraordinary ever happens to Carol Peters, so when she starts getting snarky backtalk from her TV, phone and microwave, she thinks she is being punked or losing her mind. In fact, the world's first superintelligence has selected her for observation, taking over her life...with a bigger, more ominous plan to take over everything. Now Carol is humanity's last chance before this artificial intelligence-with-an-attitude decides to pull the plug.

Cast

Production

In July 2017, it was reported that New Line Cinema had purchased the screenplay by Steve Mallory, with Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone on board the project to produce through their On the Day Productions banner.[1][2] In April 2018, it was announced that McCarthy would star in the film and Falcone would direct it, marking their fourth actor-director collaboration.[3][4] In June 2018, James Corden joined the cast, to voice the titular "Super Intelligence".[5] In July 2018, Bobby Cannavale, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sam Richardson joined the cast.[6][7][8]

The film started principal production right after McCarthy wrapped filming The Kitchen, on July 16, 2018,[3] and wrapped on August 31, 2018.[9] Some scenes were filmed at Georgia Tech.[10][11]

Release

The film will debut on HBO Max, after Falcone felt the film would be better suited on a streaming platform.[12] The film was originally scheduled to be released theatrically on December 25, 2019, but was moved five days earlier to December 20, 2019,[13][14] before being moved to late 2020.[15]

gollark: This is technically considered metalcore and I don't know what a DragonForce is.
gollark: Weird quirk of either Icecast, MPD or YouTube I think.
