Edward Stanelli

Edward Stanelli de Groot (16 June 1895 – 12 February 1961), commonly known as just Stanelli, was an Irish actor, musician and composer. He is best known for his appearance in the 1949 film The Adventures of Jane.

Stanelli was born in Dublin and studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London, where he was awarded the James Tubbs and Sons Prize for his violin playing in 1909.[1]

Stanelli became a conductor and composer, and his work Atlantis was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and the Hallé Orchestra in 1946, which sometimes he conducted. He later began a comedic double-act called Stanelli and Edgar.[2] He continued solo working for the BBC from 1935. His Hornchestra was popular with radio audiences, and he made his television debut in April 1937.[3]

He appeared in and composed the soundtrack for Greek Street (1930) and The Adventures of Jane (1949). He also acted in the films Hearts of Humanity (1936), Old Mother Riley Overseas (1943), and Dear Mr. Prohack (1949), all in small bit-parts.[4]

gollark: Can dale build cpython?
gollark: C has more low-level stuff you probably don't want to bother with if doing a build script; Python has useful high level features like "working strings".
gollark: I disagree with that, actually.
gollark: It also took something like 10% of the time to write, which is good.
