St. Mary's Seahawks sailing

The St. Mary's Seahawks Sailing Team represents St. Mary's College of Maryland in the intercollegiate sport of sailing. They are members of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA), the governing body for collegiate sailing, and compete at the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA). The St. Mary's Seahawks are a powerhouse in college sailing.[1]

The team holds 14 National Championships:

And received the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy in 2000.

Sailors

Mark Ivey was College Sailor of the Year in 2000 and Adrienne Patterson was Women's College Sailor of the Year in 2007.

Olympians

Jesse Kirkland, Rodrigo Amado, Scott Steele, Mayumi Roller, Farrah Hall and Paul Stoeken are olympic sailors from St. Mary's.

Sailing venue

The home for the St. Mary's Seahawks sailing program is the James P. Muldoon River Center, formally dedicated on December 6th, 2008.[2] The 11,667 square feet facility has an outdoor deck overlooking the riverfront, boat repair facilities and equipment storage, locker rooms for both varsity and recreational use, team room for the Sailing Team, coaches and faculty offices, and classroom on the first floor. The second floor has a multi-purpose room with a fireplace and seating for 75 people, a gallery Hall for display of awards, trophies and art work, a biology Lab to support St. Mary’s River Project, a catering kitchen and a seminar/conference room.[3]
