Spotswood, New Plymouth

Spotswood is a suburb of New Plymouth in the Taranaki Region of New Zealand. It is located to the west of the city centre.[1]

According to the 2013 New Zealand census, Spotswood has a population of 2,016, an increase of 9 people since the 2006 census. There were 978 males and 1,041 females. Figures have been rounded and may not add up to totals.[2]

Education

Spotswood College is a secondary (years 9–13) school with a roll of 797 students as of March 2020.[3][4] It was founded in 1960. At one time it was divided as East and West school.[5]

Spotswood Primary is a contributing primary (years 1–6) school with a roll of 258 students as of March 2020.[3][6] The school celebrated its 50th jubilee in 2007.[7]

Te Pi'ipi'inga Kakano Mai Rangiatea is a full primary (years 1–8) school with a roll of 105 students as of March 2020.[3][8] It is a Kura Kaupapa Māori school which teaches in the Māori language.

All the schools are coeducational.
