Etymology

The souk got its name probably from its special architecture. Its streets are covered with a barrel vault called Kamr in Arabic.[1]

Description

Backed by the northern facade of the Great Mosque, the souk stretches along an east-west axis, perpendicular to the main wing of the souk Errbaa.[2]

According to some historians, this market was specialized in selling spices and sfaxian natural products (raisins, almonds, pistachios, dried figs etc.).[1]

Nowadays, most of his shops got converted into modern ones where new products that are mainly imported are exposed to the sale (clothes, bags, etc.).[2]

gollark: I'm libertarian-centrish, i.e. I think markets are reasonably good at allocating stuff but also have failures sometimes and so governments or something can sometimes be good there.
gollark: Idea: patent your maths and then make EVERYONE PAY YOU!!!!!!
gollark: Praise the market.
gollark: > > We must ask ourselves, what value does the glorious MARKET™ pay for people mathing?> watery breadHOW watery?
