Background

At Rebellion, Impact Wrestling announced the date for Slammiversary XVII, but did not announce a venue. [4] On May 14, 2019 via its website and on social media, IMPACT Wrestling announced that the event would be held at Gilley's Dallas, and would be the first event held in Dallas.

Storylines

The event featured professional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portrayed villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.[5]
