Shut Down (album)

Shut Down is a multi-artist compilation album released by Capitol Records in 1963. It featured hot rod music from acts such as the Beach Boys, Robert Mitchum, the Cheers, and the Super Stocks. In 1964, the album was followed with Shut Down Volume 2, which only featured songs by the Beach Boys.[2]

The term "shut down" is hot rod slang referring to the defeat of an opponent in a drag race.[2]
