General information. Shafirkan district was founded on September 29, 1926. It is bordered by Vobkent in the south, Peshko district in the south-west, Gijduvan districts in the east, Navoi region in the north.
The area is 3.72 thousand km2. In the district there are 8 towns (urban-type settlements), 12 rural citizens' dormitories (Dorman, Denov, Jurabod, Tezguzar, Sulton Jo'ra, Bogiafzal, M.Chandir, Sh.Khamroev, Juynav, Iskogare, Vardonze), 37 mahallas are citizens. The center is the city of Shofirkon.
Relief of Shofirkon district is sharp continental with low poverty. The average July temperature is 30.5 degrees and the minus 4 degrees Celsius. Vegetation period is 125–130 days. A yearly average of 220 mm. the fat comes down.
There are 158.1 thousand people, mostly Uzbeks, as well as Tajik, Russian, Tatar, Kazakh, Azerbaijani and other nationalities. Population density is 42.5 persons per km2.
