Shivaji College
Shivaji College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. It is a co-educational institution and imparts instruction in various subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Over the years, several students of the college have excelled in the academic field by obtaining top or near-top positions in various university examinations. The results of the college in general have been consistently good.
The college has extensive playgrounds which provide an excellent opportunity to students to participate in various games and sports. As in the academic field, on the sports field the college also has many an achievement to its credit. Not only has the college won prizes in various sporting events several times, but also, some of the students of the college have represented the University and the State of Delhi in competitions that were held at the Inter-University or National level, with some of them participating in international events as well.
The college has various societies dedicated to art, literature, dance, debate, music, and most especially theatre. The theatre society of Shivaji College, named VAYAM, is one of the top college theatre societies of India.

Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry of Shivaji College is a very versatile department with a blend of young and experienced faculty members. In Shivaji College, B.Sc (H) Chemistry course is offered and apart from this B.Sc (P) Life Science and B.Sc (P) Physical Science with Chemistry are also offered, wherein, students are taught Chemistry as a main paper. Also, Chemistry is offered as a Generic Elective (GE) paper to the students of various courses like B.Sc (H) Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics and Mathematics. Chemistry has always been a favorite subject of students given the fact that every year under CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) course structure, a lot of students from various other science courses opt for Chemistry as their GE paper. The main focus of the faculty members of the Department of Chemistry is to prepare the students not only content-wise (following the curriculum of the course) but also equip them with all the necessary qualities like team work, leadership skills, creativity etc so that they are ready to face the competitive world out there. For this, the Department of Chemistry organizes Annual fest under “Rastantrum”, Chemical Society of Shivaji College. This society is run by the students’ office bearers, who are elected every year and mentored by the faculty members of the Department. The fest involves one or two invited and interactive lectures from eminent scientists or Professors from renowned Universities and Institutes. The fest also includes various in-house competitions like rangoli making, quiz, chemical charades, poster making, slogan writing, crystal growth, ad-mad and power point presentation, to name a few. In January 2020, the Department of Chemistry organized a National Conference on “Relationship between Chemical Sciences and Society-RCSS 2020” which involved interactive sessions by eminent speakers, oral and poster presentation competitions. We also take our students for a visit to some research institutes to give them a glimpse of what all research activities are going on and what career options might be there for them once they graduate. For the holistic growth of an institution, constant effort and hard work is required from all the employees. Keeping this in mind, all the faculty members regularly attend conferences, workshops, seminars, faculty development programs, orientation course, refresher course and short term training course to remain updated. The faculty members of the Department also take up independent as well as collaborative research activities. Currently, the Department of Chemistry is a part of DBT sponsored Star College Scheme which involves a lot of inter-disciplinary experiments, small projects, summer training, hands-on training on analytical techniques for students. Chemistry Laboratories are a very important component of learning Chemistry. The laboratory staff of Chemistry Department is well qualified and they also participate in short training programs being organized by various other institutes. The faculty members of Department of Chemistry have been doing their bit as well over the years in imparting technical knowledge to the laboratory staff by organizing intra- and inter- laboratory staff skill training programs. The Department of Chemistry has been a part of Inspire Camp being organized by our college for the science students of various schools of Delhi and NCR to motivate and inspire them to take up science as a career option. This camp includes various lectures of scientists from renowned institutes followed by hands-on sessions in which some small experiments are performed by school students in laboratories of our college. It also involves a field or lab visit for the students.
