Second Baptist School
Second Baptist School is a private primary and secondary Christian school in the Memorial area of Houston, Texas, United States.
SBS serves approximately 1200 students from PK – 12. As a self-supporting agency of the Second Baptist Church of Houston, the school has access to nearly 1,000,000 square feet (100,000 m2) of educational and recreational facilities on a 56-acre (230,000 m2), Memorial area campus.
History and founding
In 1946-47, a group of Texans established an elementary school. On February 3, 1947, Second Baptist School opened its doors to 45 kindergarten students.
In 1974, the Middle School began with 6th grade and each year another grade was added to complete the middle school level. In 1979, the Upper School began with the 10th grade and by 1982, the school provided an instructional curriculum of grades pre-kindergarten through twelve.
