Early life
McDaniel was born in Roseville, California.[6] Her parents are Angela McDaniel, née Chamberlin (born 1967),[7] and Gregory Paul McDaniel (born 1965),[8] a project manager.[9]
Career
McDaniel was on the cover of Playboy's first non-nude issue for March 2016.[10] She has also appeared as a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.[11]
McDaniel has appeared in several music videos, first in the video for Mark Ronson's "Summer Breaking / Daffodils" featuring Kevin Parker. Her second appearance was for G-Eazy's single "Some Kind of Drug" featuring Marc E. Bassy. She made her acting debut in Edouard Pluvieux's series SuperHigh, starring alongside Kev Adams and DeStorm.[12]
She considers herself to be an investigative journalist.[13] McDaniel wrote science-based entries on two blogs, including the now defunct blogging site Filthy and the free HuffPost Contributor Platform.[14] Her blogs covered emotion-changing parasites, zombie fungus, and black holes.[15]
Heterochromia
McDaniel states that her heterochromia iridum appeared a few weeks after she was born, with her right eye brown and her left eye blue.[16] She has stated in interviews that a previous agent and different modeling companies wanted to have her wear colored contacts in an effort to focus more on the design, and McDaniel highlights social media for her embracing her look.[17] However, McDaniel has been accused of faking the condition and wearing colored contact lenses.[18] McDaniel insists that she does have heterochromia and has been "devastated by the accusation" and the online abuse she has received.[18]
Photographs of McDaniel's posted online (including some by her father[19]) "seemed to show the color of McDaniel’s blue eye changing, from blue-green dappled with brown, turquoise with a brown ring around the pupil, to solid aquamarine with a black ring at the perimeter".[20] it has been suggested that their mismatchmemt could be the result of coloured contacts or even surgery.[19]
StyleCaster, which published an article about McDaniel's eyes, posted an editor's note after receiving "many comments" stating that her claim to have heterochromia was false, explaining, "After publishing this story, we received many comments that McDaniel’s claim of being born with Heterochromia Iridum may be false. We reached out to McDaniel’s representative, who vehemently denied that her client has misrepresented herself at any time, and maintains that McDaniel was born with the condition".[17]

Born in Roseville, California, McDaniel moved to San Diego when she eight-years-old and had to move multiple times all over Southern California during high school because of her father’s work as a project manager. Because of that, she had a hard time forming close friends and was often bullied because of her appearance.
