Sapa, Mississippi
Sapa is an unincorporated community in Webster County, in the U.S. state of Mississippi.[1]
History
Sapa was founded in the 1880s, when the railroad was extended to that point.[2] A post office was established at Sapa in 1889, and remained in operation until 1935.[3] The name "Sapa" may be derived from the Choctaw meaning "snake", although folk etymology holds the name is derived from a question, i.e. "Say, Pa! What are they going to name this place?"[2]
gollark: Look, if you don't want spooooky ghosts taking eggs, *just ask them to say if they take it!*
gollark: I mostly go for "ask people to say if they take it and occasionally check progeny pages".
gollark: ***mine***
gollark: Thanks!
gollark: Can also breed more poorly considered SAltkins on request.
