Sam Washington

Samuel Lee Washington Jr. (born March 7, 1960) is an American football coach and former defensive back. Washington played four seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals.[1] He is the head football coach at North Carolina A&T State University, a position he has held since 2018.[2]

Playing career

Pittsburgh Steelers

Washington was signed by Pittsburgh Steelers after he graduated from Mississippi Valley State University. During the 1984 season, he intercepted six passes.

Cincinnati Bengals

Washington was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals in 1985.

Fame

On September 2 a video was posted to the N.C. A&T Athletics twitter where coach Washington famously said "tell them to bring me my money" after beating East Carolina in an upset match. Since then coach Washington’s remark has become a famous and recognizable meme.
