Description
The saddleback gunnel is an elongated eel like fish with a pronounced brown and tan pattern. Max size is around 30 cm.[2]
Range and habitat
The saddleback gunnel ranges from Vancouver Island in the north to Santa Barbara County, California in the south. It is found at depths of 0-50 m along the coast and in estuaries.[2] They are rarely seen by divers because they spend most of the day in structure and are flighty, even at night.[3]
Life history
Both males and females guard the egg mass after spawning.[2]
