His mother began working at Propaganda Films in 1986.[1] As a result, Sabyn was exposed to some of the most influential directors of that time period. He cites many of those directors as a major influence on his life and career.

After graduating high school, Sabyn attended the Los Angeles Film School. He graduated in 2002 with a concentration in Directing and minor in Producing.

Early career

Mayfield began his career after graduating from Los Angeles Film School, working as a PA. His first job was with the production company Headquarters. Mayfield soon transitioned to working as a Grip and became a member of the Local 80 Grip Union in 2006. Shortly thereafter he resigned his membership, seeking other opportunities in the film industry.

Following his transition from gripping, Mayfield began working in casting. His work as a casting associate includes: Spring Breakers, Palo Alto,[2] Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,[3] Footloose, and countless commercials.[4] In 2010 Mayfield cast and produced the film AFTER.[5][6]

As a producer, Mayfield has produced multiple films, including AFTER, Black Marigolds, Adult Interference, And a Bag of Chips,[7] Sisters, and Bound. His feature film debut as a director, Boomtown,[8] which he also wrote and produced, was released worldwide in 2017.[9]

Directing

Mayfield began his professional directing career in 2011. He directed two music videos for Space Capone, "Why You Wanna Say Goodnight?" and "I Just Wanna Dance". He also directed a comedic short, Regulate, an adaptation of the Warren G and Nate Dogg song of the same name. The short was featured on Tosh.0. Mayfield also directed the pilot for a reality series entitled Real MC's and a short film, Tears, starring Michael Madsen, based on Madsen's poem in the book Burning in Paradise.[10]

Mayfield founded production company Stay Fly LLC in January 2012. Stay Fly LLC serves as Multi Media Production Company.[11]

Mayfield's music video credits include videos for The Redneckz, Vanessa Carlton, Space Capone, Olivia Lane, Shannon Magrane, and Julien Baker, among others.

Films

In 2015, Stay Fly LLC produced three short films. And a Bag of Chips,[12] (writer/Jannette Sepwa) Sisters, (writer/Vivian Fleming Alvarez)[13][14] and Bound (writer/Brandon Hirsch).[15] All three were in festival competition in 2014. And a Bag of Chips won the Audience award for Best Florida Production at The Gasparilla International Film Festival in 2014.[16][17][18] Mayfield secured domestic and international distribution for all 3 shorts films via ShortsHD.

Stay Fly LLC has multiple feature films in development: Ca$hVille, Maxine, and Sevier. Stay Fly LLC’s debut feature film, Boomtown, is currently available worldwide on multiple digital platforms. Mayfield's follow up, Time Can't Be Wasted, won a Gold Remi Award for Best Documentary Short at The Houston International Film Festival. The film was acquired by 1091 Media and will be released in the fall of 2020. [19]

gollark: 1MB isn't "like" 1000000 bits, it *is* 1000000 bits. The power of two ones are MiB and whatnot.
gollark: I guess one *millibit* (CAPITALIZE YOUR UNITS) is okay though.
gollark: It's a lot.
gollark: Anyway, if you want a challenge, build a Powder Toy (https://powdertoy.co.uk/) computer.
gollark: **1MB**?!
