SAERT

SAERT is an acronym for "Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Rehabilitation in Tigray". It was a parastatal organisation in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia, that is particularly known for constructing dozens of earthen dams and reservoirs between 1997 and 2003.

SAERT was funded jointly by the UNDP, UNECA and FAO, with the Regional Government of Tigray sharing project financing in kind.[1]

Realisations

Dams constructed through the SAERT programme include

gollark: I don't see the relevance.
gollark: It could equally be that better-off societies can afford to be nicer without becoming uncompetitive.
gollark: That doesn't say anything about which way the causality runs, though.
gollark: Soul harvesting.
gollark: If it is an actual problem we should complain about it, and if it isn't it isn't, regardless of what other problems exist.
