S. Gopalakrishnan (writer)

S. Gopalakrishnan[1][2][3]is an author, broadcaster, musicologist and a columnist. He was born in 1961 at Kottayam, Kerala to TS Sreedharan Nair and Kizhakkedathu J Bharathi Amma. He writes in Malayalam and English. He is considered as a noted commentator on contemporary issues and his writings in Malayalam on Gandhi and music are well acclaimed. A collection of his writings Kadha Pole Chilathu Sambhavikkumbol has been awarded for the best Malayalam prose by Kerala Sahitya Akademi in 2013 . His published books are Jalarekhakal −2006, Kadha Pole Chilathu Sambhavikkumbol −2008 Gandhi Oru Ardha Nagna Vayana-2013, Manushyanumaayulla Udambadikal −2016, Pattum Kaalavum −2018 and Pakistanilekkulla Theevandi −2008 translation of Khushwant Singh's The Train to Pakistan. Gopalakrishnan's periodical cloumns Jalarekhakal in Samakalika Malayalam Vaarika and Bhashaposhini Chevi Orkkumbol (column on Indian music) in Samakalika Malayalam Vaarika and Chuvarezhuthukal in Malayala Manorama newspaper were published. He also writes in English in national dailies and online publications.[4][5][6]

Career

He started his career in All India Radio and gave major contributions in the digitsation of its archival recordings and in the releases of its music collections named Akashvani Sangeeth. Later, he worked as Content Director of Sahapedia, an online encyclopedia of the South Asian arts and heritage and as Content Head of Radio Mango 91.9, Malayala Manorama at Kannur and United Arab Emirates. His daily broadcast, Paper Capsule, an analysis of news across the world in Radio Mango Dubai was rated high in audience surveys. He, now hosts a popular podcast from Delhi, Dilli-Dali on contemporary society and culture. Gopalakrishnan is a postgraduate in Philosophy and Gandhian Thoughts and resides in Delhi.[7][8][9][10]
