Biography

Carvalho was signed by Iraty at a young age. He signed a two-year contract with Iraty in November 2006 and was loaned to Rio Branco for 2007 Paraná state football championship. He then transferred to Tombense, a proxy club for the investees. He was immediately loaned to Portuguese Second Division club Olivais e Moscavide.[1] In January 2009, he returned to Brazil for Guarani (MG). The team finished as the least in 2009 Minas Gerais state championship.

Figueirense

Carvalho came to Figueirense in May 2009, and helped the team to win promotion to the first division the following year, as 2010 runner-up. Roger played 27 games in 2011 first division, starting 20 times. With Tombense, he also signed a new three-year contract effective on 1 January 2010, and he was loaned to Figueirense in January 2010, May 2010 and again in January 2011.

Genoa

On 31 January 2012, Carvalho was loaned to Italian Serie A club Genoa C.F.C.. He took the no. 3 shirt from departed Dario Dainelli. Roger is a dual Brazil-European Union citizen,[2] thus he was not restricted by non-EU policy of FIGC. He made his debut on 15 February, after Kakha Kaladze was suspended.

São Paulo

On 21 August 2013, Carvalho signed on loan, until the final of 2014 Campeonato Paulista, with Brazilian side São Paulo FC. The contract has a buy clause that permits to Tricolor pay a fee of €3 million and contract the defender definitely. As he is injured, Carvalho stays in club recovering and can debut for club in October.[3] After eight months playing for Tricolor, and a few opportunities, Carvalho left the club. Besides of directors of Soberano wanting to renew his contract until December 2014, Muricy Ramalho did not difficult his coming out from club. São Paulo wait Rafael Tolói's, on loan for AS Roma, and Breno's, arrested in Germany where he played for FC Bayern Munich, return, what would diminish more Carvalho's possibilities on club.[4]

Vitória

Roger Carvalho joined Vitória on 29 July 2014.[5] The defender stayed at the club until the end of the year.

Botafogo

On 3 January 2015, Roger Carvalho was signed by Botafogo.[6]
