Rikki Belder
Rikki Belder (born 2 July 1993) is an Australian track cyclist, specialising in the sprint disciplines.[1][2] She is the current Oceania Champion and Gold Medallist in the Team Sprint (with Holly Takos & Courtney Field),[3] and has won five Australian National Titles in the same event, along with fellow team members Anna Meares OAM and Stephanie Morton OAM.[1][4][5]
Rikki is currently the 2017 Subaru Cycling Australia Track Nationals Team Sprint Gold Medallist (with Stephanie Morton and Holly Takos) and Championship Record holder, and 500m Time Trial Silver Medallist. Belder has been competing at international level in Track Cycling since 2012 and was selected onto the Australian National Team, racing in the 2015 Union Cycliste Internationale – UCI Track Cycling World Cup III in Cali, Colombia, and 2017 Oceania Track Cycling Championships.[1][3][7][8]
Biography
Rikki Belder was born in Adelaide, South Australia on 2 July 1993. She lives and trains in Adelaide with the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI),[9] whilst concurrently studying Biomedical Engineering at Flinders University.[1] Belder Graduated Dux from Walford Anglican School for Girls in 2010.[10]
Rikki is the second daughter of Lyn and Gary Belder. Gary Belder ASM (Australian Sports Medal) is a former International Hockey Umpire and a life member of Hockey South Australia.[1][11] Rikki’s older sister Donna Belder, is a PhD candidate and scholarship holder in ornithology at the Fenner School of Environment and Society, Australian National University (ANU).[12]
In 2014, The Advertiser listed Rikki Belder as one of South Australia's Fastest-Rising Stars Under 30. Rikki is also a talented artist [13][14] and was commissioned by Cycling Australia to design the 2016 Summer Olympics (Games of the XXXI Olympiad) Speed System aero helmet personalisation decals.
Belder is a member of the South Coast Cycling Club and has co-designed the club’s kit, along with fellow member Isabella Dashorst.
