Raphaël Elig

Raphael Elig (born Raphael Eligoulachvili in Paris) is a French musician and composer of Georgian origin.

Life

After classical studies at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and harmony, counterpoint and fugue lessons with Jeannine Richer, Elig followed the film music classes of Laurent Petitgirard. He completed his training by studying electronic music at the CCRMA, (Center For Computer Research In Music & Acoustics) acoustic and musical research centre of the Stanford University in California.

His professional career began as a composer, author and performer at EMI Group where he released two records in the early 1990s (J'me Fais du Bien and Les Garçons Aiment les Filles). In parallel he writes music for the theatre (Patrick Timsit, Clémentine Célarié, Sophia Aram[1]), for the TV (Chic on Arte and Cash Investigation on France 2) and also composes advertising music for prestigious brands (Cartier, Vuitton, Air France, etc.). He writes songs for Gloria Gaynor,[2] Yi Zhou, and composes for the cinema with, among others, in 2008, Dante 01 in collaboration with Eric Wenger, first solo feature film by Marc Caro (Delicatessen and La Cité des enfants perdus) and in 2013, Rue Mandar by Idit Cebula.

Passionate about new technologies, he participated in the creation of the group Res Rocket in the mid-1990s, with English and American musicians on the Internet. The principle was to play music from a distance and use the Internet as a vector of creation. The project was covered by many international media (CNN, MTV, Canal+, etc.).
