Award process
For members of the Sri Lanka Navy, this award was presented if they had served in[1]:
- Jaffna District (since 22 July 1977), or
- Vavuniya District, Kilinochchi District, Mullaitivu District, Mannar District, Batticaloa District, Trincomalee District or Ampara District (since 16 September 1983).
The Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force awarded the decorations for service in the same areas, with slightly different rules.[2]

gollark: And? There are lots now.
gollark: Humans can write that fine. We already have such issues. The solution isn't limiting ability to automatically write things but people actually checking facts.
gollark: Like what? Is there much evilness actually limited by ability to generate slightly higher quality text than is possible now?
gollark: I'm not sure if that's *better*.
