There are currently two recognized species in this genus:[1][2]
- Pseudopataecus carnatobarbatus J. W. Johnson, 2012 (Goatee Velvetfish)[2]
- Pseudopataecus taenianotus J. W. Johnson, 2004 (Longfin velvetfish)
