Background

Mirwais worked on the album from early 1998 to December 1999. Most tracks were mixed in his personal studio in Paris. Mastering was done at The Exchange, London, by Simon Davey, except "Disco Science", mastered by Nilesh Patel.[1]

Critical reception

According to Metacritic, the album received "generally favorable reviews" with a score of 73/100, based on 11 reviews.[2] NME gave the album 3.5/5 stars, saying the album "is the sound of an old punk playing catch-up with dance music."[3]

Music video

Several music videos were released for Production. "Disco Science" was directed by French photographer/artist Stéphane Sednaoui in 1999 and released the same year.

The second video, for "Naive Song", was directed by the photographer Jean Baptiste Mondino during 2000.[4]

Stéphane Sednaoui directed another video for "I Can't Wait", which was released as the third single.

Mirwais Remixed

In 2008, Naive Records released Mirwais Remixed, a remix album which came included the original album, with all singles remixed by different artists. Remixers include Giorgio Moroder, Joey Negro, Dave Clark, Shakedown, Thin White Duke, Les Rythmes Digitales and Olav Basovsky.

The song was used during a hare coursing scene in the film Snatch.[5]

gollark: GPUs use SIMD, where several thousand small cores operate on a little bit of the input data, which is very good for their high performance computing needs.
gollark: There are multiple appropriate ones for various scenarios.
gollark: They're bad at it and it would not be easier if you could just spin off new threads at random. There would also probably be issues with synchronization overhead.
gollark: No, that would cause horrible race conditions constantly.
gollark: Anyway, threads and the various synchronization primitives in C (or, well, commonly used with C?) are not a particularly good model for concurrency given the many, many bugs created through use of such things, as opposed to actor models and whatever.
