History
Prism Studios started off as a small team of fans of the Portal series. The team's first game Portal Stories: Mel is a stand-alone total conversion modification for Valve's Portal 2, which they developed for four years[1] before the game's release on 25 June 2015. The modification was well received among fans and critics, with a 95% positive rating on Steam[2] and winning "Best Fan Creation" at The Game Awards 2015.[3] Portal Stories: VR, a virtual reality modification of Portal 2, was released on 16 May 2016, and is a small campaign designed for the room-scale VR that SteamVR offers.[4]
On 5 August 2016, Prism Studios switched from being a mod team to being a standalone game development company,[5] releasing The Captives: Plot of the Demiurge in 2018. Another game, The YR-Initiative, is currently in development.[6]
