Gameplay

The game is presented in 3rd person. Using the Nintendo DSi's D pad or by touching the bottom screen with the Stylus the player moves around their character to capture flags and return them to their base. The player may shoot firecrackers at opponents in an attempt to pop them away from the player. If the player is hit by a firecracker the player drops his/her flag (if the player is holding one) and is popped from where they were. There are 3 main types of characters the player can be.

  • Wheeled: Wheeled characters move quickly on land, but slowly in water
  • Fish: Fish swim quickly in water but move slowly on land
  • Flying: Flying characters move at moderate speeds above land or water

Reception

Pop Island has received generally good reviews.[2]

  • Pocket Gamer UK - 8/10
gollark: What?
gollark: I believe it's anomalous technology for making "impedances" what you want.
gollark: Doubtful.
gollark: I should add a message editing feature to ABR which also uses cognitobees to erase people's memory of the wrong version.
gollark: They probably changed it to that because "no TTY" was outdated.
