Polish Film Institute
Polish Film Institute (Polish: Polski Instytut Sztuki Filmowej) is a state-run cultural institution responsible for the development of Polish cinematography and the promotion of Polish film worldwide. The Institute is located at the Krakowskie Przedmieście 21/23 in Warsaw, Poland.[1][2]

History
The Polish Film Institute was founded in 2005 as a result of the enactment of a cinematography law bill prepared by then Minister of Culture and National Heritage Waldemar Dąbrowski.
Mission
The Polish Film Institute fulfills the aims of the law bill on cinematography (dated June 30, 2005), these include the joint funding, distribution and dissemination of Polish film, the worldwide promotion of Polish cinematography, the support of debutees and young film directors, the education of film as well as the funding of film archives.[3]
Structure
The first director of the Polish Film Institution, after her victory in an organised contest, is Agnieszka Odorowicz, in July 2010 she won the contest anew. She performed her function between October 3, 2005 until October 2, 2015.[4] On October 2, 2015 Agnieszka Odorowicz was proceeded by Magdalena Sroka.[5] From December 7, 2017 the General Director of the Polish Film Institute is Radosław Śmigulski[6]</ref>. The Polish Film Institute is overseen by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, whilst the Council of Ministers judges the Institute's function and financial planning, as well as annually affirming its Programmes of Operation.
